Taxonomic remark Leontyev et al., 2019 state: "For the group including Myxomycetes, Dictyosteliomycetes and Ceratiomyxomycetes, Fiore-Donno et al. (2010) proposed the name Macromycetozoa, whereas Kang et al. (2017) restricted the traditional name Eumycetozoa to this group. This may cause confusion, because Eumycetozoa, as originally proposed by Olive and Stoianovitch (1975), included all of the protosteloid taxa (Table 1). However, if all the protosteloid amoebae with all their non-fruiting relatives are included, the group Eumycetozoa becomes nearly synonymous with the Amoebozoa and is therefore superfluous (Shadwick et al. 2009). To save this widely used name, we support its emendation by Kang et al. (2017)." Subsequently used at an unstated rank (but within Aboebozoa, then Evosea Kang) in Wijayawardene et al. (2021, 2022) with 3 classes i.e. Dictyosteliomycetes, Ceratiomyxomycetes and Myxomycetes. Treated as a phylum in Leontyev et al., 2019 and Catalogue of Life, 2022 version, however for as long as Amoebozoa are treated as a phylum per the system of Ruggiero et al., 2015, then Eumycetozoa cannot be higher than subphylum, thus is presently treated at that rank in IRMNG. [details]
