Taxonomic remark Parker, 1982 treated "true fungi", i.e. all fungi excluding myxomycetes, as Division (=Phylum) Eumycota within Kingdom Plantae, subkingdom Thallobionta. More recently, Fungi have been recognised as their own kingdom, more closely related to animals than plants; they are frequently placed together with animals in the same clade, namely the opisthokonts. Parker's Eumycota also included Oomycetes and Hyphochyridiomycetes, which are now treated as organisms outside the fungal clade. [details]
