Descriptive info Type species (L. applanatum, basionym Entosiphon applanatum Preisig, however a different taxon according to Cavalier-Smith, 2016) is a biflagellate, phagotrophic euglenid found in intertidal salt marshes (Farmer & Triemer, 1994). Ploeotia corrugata (now Lentomonas) is marine. [details]
Taxonomic remark Cavalier-Smith, 2016, believes that Farmer & Triemer 's (1994) L. applanatum is a different (and new) taxon from its cited basionym, Entosiphon applanatum; that the former is the same taxon as Ploeotia corrugata Larsen and Patterson, 1990; and that P. corrugata and P. azurina should be transferred to Lentomonas, as Lentomonas corrugata and L. azurina, combs. nov.
