Taxonomic remark The clade Tetrapoda ("four-footed") includes amphibians, reptiles (including birds) and mammals. Most stem-group Tetrapoda that are not reptiles, birds or mammals could arguably be treated as Amphibia, however an increasing number of publications refer such taxa only to Tetrapoda. Presently both "Tetrapoda" and "Amphibia" are incorporated in IRMNG for stem forms, a situation to be addressed at a later date. Most authors e.g. Clack et al., 2016 give Goodrich, 1930 as the author for the name Tetrapoda, however Sues, 2019 argues that it should correctly be credited to Jaekel, 1909. Not Tetrapoda Trouessart, 1872, a suborder of mites, also characterised by possessing four legs. [details]
