Taxonomic remark Originally published at subgenus rank (as subgenus of Anisonema). Would be a valid genus in zoology on the basis initial publication at sub-generic rank (except preoccupied by Metanema Guenée, 1857 in Lepidoptera), in botany from date of new publication at genus rank by Senn, 1900 (treated under botanical nomenclature in IRMNG at this time). Listed as syn. of Anisonema Dujardin by Silva, 1960, however treated as valid by later authors e.g. Larsen 1987, Larsen and Patterson 1990. If treated under zoological nomenclature, the name Semihia Özdikmen, 2009 has been proposed to remove the homonymy. [details]
