Taxonomic remark The name Nitrospira was initially proposed by Ehrlich et al. and is used in Ruggiero et al., 2015, currently followed by IRMNG, although "The Prokaryotes" (2014) and the latest (2015) edition of Bergey's Manual use the alternative name Nitrospirae. The taxon is listed in LPSN as Phylum "Nitrospira" or "Nitrospirae". The same name (Nitrospira or "Nitrospira") is currently used at phylum and class levels and is also the name of the type genus, refer LPSN (2018 version). [details]
