Taxonomic remark Previously allocated to Xiphosura, however appear to be a sister taxon to that group. Lamsdell, 2012 states: Xiphosura sensu stricto is itself the sister group to a clade named Planaterga nom. nov. consisting of bunodids, pseudoniscids, chasmataspidids, eurypterids, and arachnids ... At present there is not enough data to indicate whether pseudoniscids and bunodids form a paraphyletic grade leading to Dekatriata nom. nov. [=Chasmataspidids, eurypterids and arachnids] or if they are themselves a diverse and previously unrecognized order of chelicerates. [details]
