Doweld, 2014, proposed to reject this name against the later synonym Asterocalamites (W.P. Schimper) R. Zeiller, however this proposal was rejected on the grounds of nomenclatural stability by the Nomenclature Committee on Fossils in 2016, refer Herendeen, 2016. [details]
