Taxonomic remark Included within Trochidae in earlier treatments, recognised as distinct by e.g. Williams et al., 2008. Apparent junior homonym of Chilodontidae Eigenmann, 1910 (Pisces); emendation to Chilodontaidae was proposed to ICZN by Herbert & Bouchet, 2011 and implemented in anticipation in Bouchet et al., 2017, however the original spelling recognised as accepted by ICZN, Opinion 2502, 2024.
