Taxonomic remark McKenna & Bell, 1997 list this genus as unallocated in order Cimolesta, however Fix et al., 2010 state: [...] Ravenictis krausei Fox and Youzwyshyn, 1994, a taxon of uncertain familial relationships within the basal paraphyletic taxon Miacoidea Simpson, 1931; McKenna and Bell (1997), however, classified Ravenictis as incertae sedis in Cimolesta. Subsequently, Flynn (1998), Meehan and Wilson (2002), Flynn and Wesley-Hunt (2005), Kemp (2005), and Rose (2006) accepted Ravenictis as carnivoran, a consensus that reinforced Fox and Youzwyshyn’s (1994) initial conclusion concerning its affinities.
