Taxonomic remark Listed as Coelenterata in Nomen. Zool. The family Lophiostromatidae (presumably with Lophiostroma as type genus) is accepted in Stromatoporoidea by Stearn, 2010, although in a separate part of the same Treatise volume, Stearn and Stock, 2010 list Lophiostroma as an excluded genus, noting that "Sugiyama (1939) used this lower Paleozoic genus for calcareous crusts, identifying the [type] species as Labechia? schmidtii Nicholson, 1886, p. 16, =Lophiostroma (Labechia?) schmidtii Nicholson (1891, p. 160). Mori (1980, p. 238–239) identified Lophiostroma ozawai Yabe & Sugiyama, 1931, as a brachiopod shell." [details]
