Taxonomic remark Also as a nomen nudum in Bergounioux, 1955, Comptes Rendus de l’Académie des Sciences, Sciences de la Terre et des Planetes 240: 1455-1457 (no diagnosis or description); Gaffney et al. cite the included species name with authorship Bergounioux, 1955. No type specimen originally designated; Gaffney et al. assign a lectotype based on the specimen in one of the figures in Bergounioux, 1956. From those authors' paper: Antunes and Broin (1988), Broin (1988), and Lapparent de Broin (2000a) synonymized this taxon with Taphrosphys ... it could be Taphrosphys, but that assemblage of shell characters has a wider distribution than does Taphrosphys. It is apparent from the fact that following the discovery of more specimens from this area, there is still no consensus on what can be diagnosed and identified, that these shells are inadequate for a taxon diagnosis.
