Taxonomic remark Dubois & Bour, 2010 ascribe authorship of this taxon name to Wagler, 1830 on the basis that " Testudines Batsch, 1788 is a family-series, not a class-series nomen", instead proposing the use of Chelonii Brogniart, 1800 for this taxon (Chelonia Ross & Macartney, 1802 is also found more commonly in the literature), a practice not followed by most current authors.
