Taxonomic remark Listed in Nomenclator Zoologicus as a new genus-group name, with attribution to Dawson: possibly interpreted as a subgenus based on "Saccamina ? (Calcisphaera) eriana" in the original work, however it is an indication of an alternative generic assignment per the 1880 publication of Williamson as cited in the text (not a subgenus), thus a later usage of Calcisphaera Williamson, 1880. Dawson (also Williamson) assigns this taxon to Protozoa (Foraminifera) although the type species is apparently a gyrogonite (calcified oospore) of a charophyte. [details]
